A Wonderful Evening with an Incredible Cause: 26th Annual Make-A-Wish Illinois Wish Ball

We had an incredible evening on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the 26th Annual Make-A-Wish Illinois Wish Ball at the UIC Forum.

It was an evening like no other with amazing live and silent auctions, dinner, dancing, raffles and much more. The event also featured a special performance by comedian Martin Short, a taped video message from Steve Carell (actor widely known from the hit TV series “The Office”) and a video message from Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Last night was an unforgettable evening of high fashion and luxury sports cars accompanied by the perfect mix of delectable bites and libations.

Hundreds of Porsche enthusiasts poured into our 2014 Porsche Cayman Launch and Reveal to get a first look at the all-new Cayman. NS Magazine debuted its Spring 2013 issue, popular North Shore boutiques Chalk, Oska and Neiman Marcus Northbrook shined featuring live pedestal models from the Ford Agency and guests were treated to beverages from Peroni and Mionetto and more. Party goers noshed on bites from L Woods Restaurant and Food For Thought catering while the DJ from Fig Media kept the energy light and hopping.

Mercedes-Benz Launches 2013 GLK250 BlueTEC 4Matic

Last summer, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 got a major interior makeover and some exterior changes. The line also adopted the more efficient and more powerful direct-injection gasoline V6 engine in the GLK350 and GLK350 4matic models that went on sale last summer.

But to top that off, Mercedes-Benz has now launched this GLK250 BlueTEC model, packed with a brand new 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel engine and offered exclusively with the automaker’s 4Matic all-wheel drive. “With improved fuel economy and torque-tastic diesel characteristics, this oil-burning GLK could easily be the star child of the company’s small CUV lineup,” according to Steven J Ewing of AutoBlog.com.

CEO of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, accepted two awards at the AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award ceremony for 2013.

Mercedes-Benz received the distinction as the world’s “Most Innovative Automotive Brand”, while Daimler took first place in the category “active and passive Safety Systems” for a second year in a row.

After receiving the award Zetsche said,“Our pioneering spirit is undiminished. We invented the automobile and, since that time, have registered patents for around 90,000 improvements – more than any other premium manufacturer. In the last year alone, we registered an average of nine patents each working day.”
